In Melbourne, together with the team at Inkuco, Hungry Workshop developed the cover design. It is a simple, delicate design that represents Melbourne's simple and modern aesthetic. Utilising both blind deboss and matt black foiling, the beauty of the design and the quality of the Colorplan card stock is highlighted. GF Smith, a paper company since 1885, developed Colorplan in 1936 and is made in Great Britain. It is 350GSM, FSC certified and has an uncoated toothy finish.
The design of the internal pages of the notebook enables several applications to maximise functionality. Also, the dark blue text is gentle and soothing to write with.
Paper
Specialty paper was an essential part of this notebook. Manufactured by Gruppo Cordenons in Italy, Knight Vellum Bright White paper in 120GSM provides a soft toothy texture. The company is a fourth-generation family paper mill that has been manufacturing premium paper since 1630. The environment is also crucial to this long-standing company. Knight paper is FSC certified, made from pulp in managed plantations and responsible forests. It is also acid-free, and the fibre used to produce Knight paper is elemental chlorine-free. Its durability, versatility and texture make the tactile experience of writing a pleasure.
Printing and binding
These notebooks were printed at Southern Impact and bound at Marvel Bookbinding in Melbourne. The pages were printed on a Heidelberg XL106 using offset printing. Packaging
The notebooks are packaged in reusable black string and envelopes, which were made in Melbourne by Northern Tags and Envelopes. They are in Kaskad raven black 270GSM, a card stock manufactured carbon neutral from PEFC certified raw material to finished product. It is made by Lessebo paper, a Swedish company, which has a strong environmental focus.
In addition, all mailing packaging is either recyclable or compostable, so please reuse, recycle or compost the packaging as is appropriate.
